Editor’s Note

palash_royJust last month, we said the realty sector was hoping for a Modi-led coalition to take centre-stage at the Centre. The results of the general elections were even more surprising with the BJP managing a simple majority on its own . Such a political development is happening after 30 years and expectedly, it has made all the sectors of the economy extremely bullish – realty being one of the leading ones among them . What impact can it have on the sector? We try to find answers to that in our cover story. Also, an outlook on the same by Anuj Puri, chairman and country head, JLL India.

Among PM Narendra Modi’s first major administrative steps was to cut down the size of the government and effecting mergers of ministries, rather single ministers handling plural ministries. I n the process, former BJP president Venkaiah Naidu is now the new minister for housing and urban poverty alleviation as well as urban development minister. The minister came prepared to assume charge. He reiterated what was mentioned in his party’s poll manifesto, and what could be a game-changer for the urban landscape of the nation –  creation of 100 smart cities. Naidu also announced on the very first day that the erstwhile UPA government’s ambitious Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission will be discontinued and would be replaced with a new scheme.

To make Noida world-class and far ahead of its NCR counterparts, the Noida Authority is focussing primarily on infrastructure development. Manoj Rai, Officer-on-Special Duty, Noida Authority, reveals the strategy drawn in an interview to Realty & More.

We take a look at the skyline of Greater Noida West, more commonly known as Noida Extension . Though the locality was marred by controversies in the past, things have changed now and the area is poised for growth.
