Property registration begins in Delhi slums
The AAP Government in Delhi on Tuesday decided to start registration of properties in 1,650 unauthorised colonies in the Capital spelling relief for over 50 lakh residents living in such areas.
Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered the authorities to complete the process of fixing boundaries of these colonies using latest scientific methods. Satellite and total solution methods will be used to demarcate and fix boundaries after which the registration process will start.
“The Government will seek a report on daily basis from the departments and officials concerned to monitor the boundary fixing work,” said Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.“The Government will send the maps to the respective municipal corporations for preparing the layout plans and then to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for change in land use. The work will be done simultaneously by the authorities so that the registration of properties is not delayed. The agencies for the demarcation of the boundaries have been identified,” Sisodia added.
Asked how the Government can start registering properties in unauthorised colonies without layout plans sanctioned by civic bodies, Sisodia said it doesn’t matter.
