IGBC Presents Green Building Certification Plaque to Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation for Five Line 3 Stations
Mumbai, September 5, 2026: The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), presented a green building certification plaque to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) for five stations under Line 3, Package No. 3. The recognition covers Jagannath Shankarshet Metro (Mumbai Central), Mahalaxmi Metro, Science Centre, Acharya Atre Chowk, and Worli stations for their commitment to sustainable infrastructure and resource efficiency, IGBC said in a press release..
The package was executed by Dogussoma, with GreenTree serving as the green building consultant. Covering the Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ corridor, MMRCL’s Line 3 comprises 27 stations. With this presentation, IGBC has certified 16 MMRCL stations so far in 2026.
An MMRC Spokesperson said, “Sustainability has been an integral part of the development of Mumbai Metro Line 3. The green certification of these five stations is a recognition of our efforts to integrate resource efficiency, environmental responsibility and sustainable practices into the project. We are committed to developing a metro network that not only enables efficient urban mobility but also contributes to a greener, more resilient and future-ready Mumbai.”
The certified stations are integrated with local public transport networks, featuring bus stops within 100 metres and drop-off zones to support last-mile connectivity. The project recorded an Economic Internal Rate of Return of 17.89 percent and a Financial Internal Rate of Return of 3.2 percent, underscoring its broader financial viability.

The green certification of these five Line 3 stations demonstrates how large-scale transport infrastructure can integrate resource efficiency, environmental responsibility and multimodal connectivity. The ceremony was attended by senior officials, including MMRCL DGM Operations Oswin D’Mello, MMRCL Senior Deputy General Manager Mahesh Dange, Dogussoma Project Manager Gopala Krishna, GreenTree representatives, and IGBC Associate Counsellor Raja Reddy.\
