New Delhi, October 30, 2026: JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd. has announced the groundbreaking of Project Kamakshi in Assam, marking the company’s first footprint in the Northeast region, according to a press release issued by the firm.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the integrated cement plant was held at Village Umrangso in the Dima Hasao district, with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attending as the chief guest.

The project will feature an integrated cement plant with dedicated railway sidings, offering a cement capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per annum supported by a 1 million tonne clinkerisation unit. Being developed with a total investment of Rs 11,000 crore, including the mining lease, the project is targeted for completion by FY 2029. It is projected to employ a future workforce of over 2,000 people and will cater primarily to the North East market.

Designed to bring locally produced cement to the region, the plant’s integrated setup with railway sidings aims to streamline material movement and ensure consistent supply. The project extends the company’s presence beyond its existing northern, western, and eastern markets, aligning with its long-term objective of achieving net-zero emissions by 2047.
