Amplus inks deal with India Expo Mart for Solar Rooftop plant

New Delhi, October 24, 2016: Amplus Energy Solutions has inked a deal to install a 2MW solar roof top plant for the Expo Centre of India Exposition Mart Ltd (IEML), a state-of-the-art, multi-functional venue hosting international business-to-business exhibitions and promotional events in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The Gurgaon-based Amplus will install, operate and maintain the project for a period of 25 years. Amplus will fund the investment for this project through the money ($150 million) it raised from a global infrastructure investment fund, I Squared Capital.
Amplus plans to invest approx. Rs 12 crore for installing the solar power plant at this landmark near Delhi. Once completed, this plant over its lifetime will help in saving 69,000 MT CO2, which is equivalent to planting 86,000 trees in addition to the guaranteed cost savings to IEML.
India Expo Mart has been hosting the prestigious Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo for several years now and will host it next year as well on September 20-22, 2017. This event has played a key role in promotion of renewable energy in India with support from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
Recently, Indian government under the 2015 Paris climate agreement, has targeted to lower its carbon emissions by 33 per cent from the 2005 levels through substitution by non-fossil fuel based power. The government aims to increase energy sourced from solar rooftop systems to 40 gigawatts by 2022.
Speaking about this project, Mr. Sanjeev Aggarwal, Managing Director & CEO, Amplus Energy said “We are extremely happy to partner with India Exposition Mart Ltd to install solar roof top for them and help them in their cause to cut down their emissions. The solar roof top installed by Amplus would be an excellent demonstration project at IEML which is well known globally to host major high profile events and summits throughout the year including the Renewable Energy India Expo.”
In April 2016, Amplus also commissioned India’s largest single-location rooftop solar installation for captive use of 4,130 kW for Yamaha Motors in Noida.
Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman at India Expo Mart speaking about the project said, “As a Global venue, it is our continuous effort to take steps towards the Go-green concept. We have a STP plant installed within the premises and majority of our street lights are solar operated. Our next major contribution toward protecting the environment is by installation of 2MW solar roof top plant. All major Exhibition venues world over have been switching over to use solar power. As an environmental conscious venue, we would like to ensure that our level of emission remains low.”
