Emaar India’s cloth distribution drive to benefit 1,600 workers

Joint initiative with Clothes Box Foundation & Pick My Laundry will benefit 1,600 workers –
Gurugram, 23rd December 2016: Emaar India, country’s leading real estate developer, conducted a winter social initiative at its Palm Terraces site in Gurugram, to bring warmth and happiness in the lives of its construction workers and their children. The company distributed clothes to the site labourers, in collaboration with Clothes Box Foundation and Pick My Laundry. The initiative is part of Emaar India’s CSR wing EMCARE that believes in ‘Welfare for All’, similar to Clothes Box Foundation’s philosophy ‘Clothing for All’.
While the Clothes Box Foundation supported the collection of used clothes, Pick My Laundry provided subsidized dry cleaning for these clothes. Emaar India subsequently distributed the dry-cleaned clothes to its 1600 construction labourers employed across various projects of the developer, including The Palm Drive, Palm Terraces, Palm Terraces Select, etc, located on the Golf Course Extension Road in Gurugram.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Arman Chaudhary, Chief of Human Resources, Emaar India said, “The construction workforce comprises the bedrock that supports the growth of a real estate entity. At Emaar India, we believe in giving back to the people who are our most valued partners in growth. It further reaffirms our philosophy of thinking beyond bottom-line parameters while contributing to society. This is a small step towards helping our site labourers combat the weather elements, particularly during the harsh winter months. We also express our sincere gratitude to the Clothes Box Foundation and Pick My Laundry for joining hands with us in this noble cause.”
The event also witnessed the presence of the senior management from Emaar India including Mr Chaudhary ; along with Mr Naman Ahluwalia & Mr Sajan Abrol, Co-founders, Clothes Box Foundation. The clothes distribution drive elicited immense applause as well as appreciation from the labourers as well as site contractors.
Besides delivering premium-quality projects to its customers, Emaar India regularly conducts several social engagement initiatives. The Company recently held World Aids Day awareness and health check-up programs for its 8,000 site workers. Events such as Blood Donation Camps, World Environment Day, National Safety Day & Week, and blanket distribution drives are a regular feature of the Company’s calendar across its project sites in India. It also organises activities such as tree plantation drives, gift distribution for construction workers’ children, running mobile crèches for site labourers’ children as well as shouldering responsibility for their education, nutrition and health. Emaar India has also contributed to various relief funds for floods in Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Odisha, apart from associating with NGOs working in the domains of disability, education and healthcare.
Emaar India’s CSR partner Clothes Box Foundation is engaged in collecting old clothes from people, which are then distributed to the underprivileged. The Foundation’s vision is to provide #Clothing4All, for which it has set a target of distributing 30,000 clothes over the next year. The long-term vision is to reach out to underprivileged persons from more than 64,000 villages.
