MoEF Nod to Gurugram’s Global City Project

Global City Gurugram Project Gets Environment Approval From MOEF 592x444 1

May 2024: The Global City project, a highly anticipated and ambitious project by the Haryana Government, has achieved a significant milestone. The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change has granted it environmental clearance, underscoring the project’s importance and potential impact on the real estate landscape. Spanning 1000 acres, this mixed-land-use project encompasses residential and commercial complexes, high-street retail spaces, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), high-tech industrial spaces, plotted developments, and self-sufficient and inclusive social infrastructure. It is being executed by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) in Gurugram sectors 36B, 37A, and 37B, near the recently operational Dwarka Expressway.

With MoEF’s approval, the project is poised to set new urban planning and development standards.

Kushagr Ansal

Kushagr Ansal, President CREDAI Haryana & Director Ansal Housing, expressed his views on the project’s environmental clearance. He said, “The environmental clearance is a game-changer for Gurgaon’s real estate sector. We can expect a significant boost in infrastructural development in the region, which will have a ripple effect on the overall Gurgaon market. The project will serve as a model for sustainable development, prioritizing both the people and the planet.”

*The Global City project in Gurgaon is one of the state-of-the-art infrastructures expected to bring high returns on investment for any investor seeking properties along the Dwarka Expressway. As real estate development is at its peak in Gurgaon, the Global City encourages developers to curate more projects that enhance the region’s allure, cater to environmental sustainability, and highlight the importance of integrating eco-friendly practices in real estate development.” said, Rajjath Goel, Managing Director, MRG Group.

The project took formation in 2019 and received a tender for Phase 1 in September 2023. Under Phase 1, roads, electricity, water supply, and other infrastructure will be created on 587 acres by December 2026 at a tentative expenditure of Rs 940 crore. Further, the work will include the construction of 13 km of internal roads, a 26-km-long storm water drain network, around 12 km of potable water network, a 12-km recycled water pipeline, a landscape across 82 acres, and a 10 km utility tunnel, which is one of the USPs of the project. The utility tunnel beneath the roads will be used for all utilities, including water, telecom, and electricity lines.

Nayan Raheja of Raheja Developers, said, “The emergence of the Global City project is a boon for the region’s real estate landscape. The project will add a gamut of premium amenities in the region, offering residents prominent hubs nearby. Further, it holds immense potential to drive economic growth and attract investments, which will positively impact the price appreciation in the region. With its strategic location near the Dwarka Expressway, the Global City project is slated to raise the bar of living standards of the residents living along the corridor.”

Sachin Gawri

“The Dwarka Expressway is becoming a beacon of luxury living in the region. Not only along the Dwarka Expressway, but the iconic Global City project will also prosper the nearby residential zones. The corridor has already witnessed an influx of residential and commercial properties. With the advent of the Global City, it is expected to see more robust development along the corridor”, said Sachin Gawri, Founder and MD of RISE Infraventures.

With MoEF’s approval, the project is poised to move forward.
