Five Long-Pending Cases Resolved in Record Time at MHADA Lokshahi Din

MAHDA 1

Mumbai, February 11, 2025: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA conducted its ninth Lokshahi Din, where Vice President & CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, promptly resolved five long-pending cases by issuing immediate directives to the concerned officials. With swift decision-making, all five matters were settled on the same day, providing instant relief to the applicants.

Applicants present at MHADA’s Bandra (East) headquarters expressed satisfaction and gratitude towards Mr. Sanjeev Jaiswal and the MHADA administration for resolving their grievances without delay.

During the hearing, Amrut Kore’s case, pending since 2004, was resolved immediately. He had applied for the regularization of his MHADA flat in Kandivali (West). Jaiswal directed the estate manager to ensure the flat transfer was completed by 3 pm on the same day. The officer complied, and Kore received his regularization letter on the spot, bringing an end to his long-standing issue.

Another case involved Fitzgerald Ozario, who had applied for the transfer of a redeveloped MHADA flat in Mumbai Central, previously owned by his late mother. The process had stalled due to the lack of an inheritance certificate after the passing of one of his siblings. Recognizing the urgency of the matter, Jaiswal directed officials to accept an indemnity bond in place of the certificate and ordered the immediate transfer of the property in Ozario’s name. The transfer confirmation letter was issued the same day, resolving the issue that had remained pending for years.

In another dispute, Mohammad Khan, a winner of the 20 per cent inclusive housing scheme under the Konkan Board’s lottery, was charged an excessive processing fee for parking and clubhouse facilities, despite not opting for these amenities. Jaiswal personally intervened, contacting the developer directly via phone and instructing an immediate reduction of the additional charges. This provided significant relief to the applicant.

Similarly, Anil Prabhulkar’s case, related to a flat in Bhaghyodaya Cooperative Housing Society (Kandivali West), was promptly addressed. Despite receiving the property through a gift deed from his brother in 2016, it had not been regularized due to non-registration. Jaiswal instructed officials to regularize the flat immediately, and the applicant was handed the official confirmation letter on the same day, successfully closing the matter.

Another key case involved Dilip Suryavanshi, a resident of New D.N. Nagar, Shivneri Cooperative Housing Society, who was awaiting possession of his redeveloped flat. Mr. Jaiswal directed the sub-registrar to issue an immediate order for possession and appoint an authorized officer to oversee the process. Following the directive, Sanjay Walunj was appointed as the authorized officer and instructed to complete the required action within seven days and submit a report.

Apart from these key cases, other applicants also received positive resolutions. Deepak Rane, representing a redeveloped building in MHADA Colony, New Chikhalwadi, sought MHADA’s maintenance responsibility for the structure. Jaiswal instructed officials to proceed with the handover formalities as per the housing society’s request.

Additionally, Arun Bhoyar of Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli, had been incorrectly penalized with interest and late fees despite paying the required maintenance charges. Jaiswal instructed the sub-registrar to conduct an audit without requiring any further hearings.

A total of seven applications were received during Lokshahi Din, bringing the cumulative total to 81 applications across nine such hearings. Of these, 75 cases have already been resolved, reaffirming MHADA’s commitment to transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly governance.
