Arrested IAS officer owned eight flats and FDs worth crores
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has reportedly found evidence of massive unaccounted income belonging to Sanjay Pratap Singh, the arrested senior bureaucrat in the Delhi Government.
According to media reports, the agency has found eight expensive properties – three in Noida, two in Greater Noida, two in Gurgaon and one in Safdarjung Enclave, all in high-end societies, from Singh from which he was getting rental income running into several lakh. These properties are in societies like Pearl Gateway (Noida), two houses in Amrapali (sector 50, Noida), two properties in Unitech Habitat and Unitech Heights in Greater Noida, houses in Oasis Cooperative and Sail Society (both in Sector 56, Gurgaon), besides a house in Safdarjung Enclave.
The CBI has unearthed five bank lockers from Singh. One of the lockers was opened on Wednesday and 31 gold biscuits (weighing 3.2 kg), worth Rs 80 lakh, and silver worth lakhs was recovered. Four lockers are yet to be opened.
Sanjay Pratap Singh is a 1984 batch IAS officer who was serving as the Principal Secretary of the Department of Welfare of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Minorities in the Delhi Government.
He was arrested on Tuesday while accepting a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh from a person who runs a security company.
