CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF) has completed the second phase of its Hope School Programme in Pune, more than doubling the local student capacity and bringing the total number of children supported by the initiative across India to over 3,000. The expansion was inaugurated by Kishore Moorjani, Chairman of CapitaLand Investment India, alongside local school officials and company volunteers, marking a significant milestone in the group’s philanthropic efforts within the region.

According to a press release, the latest development at the Zilla Parishad Primary and Secondary School in Bhoirwadi, Hinjewadi, adds 19 newly constructed classrooms covering approximately 12,000 square feet. This follows the successful first phase in 2023, which saw the school refurbished with modern sanitary facilities, a library, and dedicated computer and science laboratories. With these upgrades, the school can now accommodate an additional 760 students, providing a total of 1,400 children with access to a safe and technologically equipped learning environment.

The project is strategically located near CapitaLand’s core business operations in Maharashtra, which include data centers and logistics parks. Gauri Shankar Nagabhushanam, Director of CapitaLand Hope Foundation (India) and CEO of CapitaLand India Trust, emphasized the importance of this local connection. “CapitaLand has a strong and growing presence in Maharashtra across business parks, data centres, and logistics and industrial parks. The school, located in close proximity to CapitaLand’s business operations in Pune, reflects our commitment to building what matters for the local communities we are present in. Beyond infrastructure, the support from CapitaLand staff volunteers and community partners creates a more enriching environment for students,” Nagabhushanam stated.

The Hope School Programme aims to foster long-term social mobility by creating inclusive environments for vulnerable children. Beyond the recent success in Pune, the foundation continues to scale its impact across the country, currently supporting thousands of students through similar educational initiatives in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The foundation maintains that providing high-quality infrastructure is the first step in building a foundation for resilience and academic success in the communities where the Group operates.
