DLF residents plan to stall petrol pump construction
Residents of DLF City Phase 1 plan to file a petition in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday to seek a ban on the construction of a petrol pump in a green belt.
According to a published media report, almost 2,000 square yards of the green belt in E block was levelled for the petrol pump, the residents said.
“We will take this issue seriously and not allow the petrol pump to be set up. The area is near residential localities and can be dangerous. We filed a complaint with the forest department too,” said RS Rathee, president of the Qutub Enclave RWA in DLF Phase 1.
The forest department said it asked the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) about the permission granted for cutting the trees. “We did not receive a reply from Huda. We did not permit civic body or plot owner to cut trees. But evidence shows that nearly 50 trees were cut,” said MD Sinha, conservator of forests ( Gurgaon circle).
“We are trying to develop the city. A petrol pump is required in the area. But we are not compromising on the green cover. We asked the horticulture department to plant saplings,” Hardeep Singh, Huda administrator, said.
