Although EVS still remain beyond the reach of an average car buyer, time is not far when they will become as affordable as ICE-based vehicles. Considering the extreme weather conditions in the country, the EVs come with multiple luxury features. Besides, they also boast of highest safety rating. With so much to offer, EVS are certainly a huge blessing for all seasons.

In earlier times, the need for cars and their preferred specifications differed largely from what they are today. Back then, buyers chose cars with better fuel economy, reliability, and aftersales service; whereas today cars that offer better comfort, performance and luxury features remain a hot favourite among the consumers. With technological advancements, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), the preferences of car buyers have also evolved. Moreover, today cars are more affordable and no longer a niche product which is within the reach of only the rich.

Currently however, EVs are the niche product as for as an average buyer is concerned. The high prices of these vehicles, mainly due to lithium Ion battery and in-built technology, favour only the high-privileged. Once the demand for EVs rises, their production will also get a boost, thereby, bringing down their prices as well. Hopefully, EVs will then become as affordable as internal combustion engine-based vehicles.

  • With technological advancements, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things, the preferences of car buyers have also evolved.
  • Having a ‘Climate Control’ feature becomes a must in cars. The feature helps the vehicle maintain a constant temperature inside the car, irrespective of the temperature outside.
  • With ventilated seats, one feels instant relief from heat as the air chambers blow cool air from headrest and seats via perforated holes.
  • The panoramic sunroof not only gives an exceptional view of the sky, but also makes the car cabin feel roomier because of the additional light entering the cabin.

Weather conditions are crucial in deciding the features of EVs in the country. Weather in India, especially in the northern part of the country, is extreme; winters are extremely cold and summers remain excruciatingly hot. Temperature in summers can go up to as high as 50 degree Celsius in some parts of the country. Therefore, having a ‘Climate Control’ feature becomes a must in cars sold in the Indian subcontinent. The feature helps the vehicle maintain a constant temperature inside the car, irrespective of the temperature outside.

These luxury EVs in India also offer customers a wide range of automated features, one of them being ‘ventilated seats’. Such seats play a vital role, particularly during the scorching Indian summers. Usually the air-condition system of a car takes around two to three minutes to cool the cabin but with ventilated seats, consumers can feel instant relief from the heat as the air chambers blow cool air from the headrest and seats through perforated holes.

Panoramic sunroof is another successful feature being offered in luxury EVs in the country. The sunroof not only gives an exceptional view of the sky, but also makes the car cabin feel roomier because of the additional light entering the cabin.

The other common features being offered are blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree camera, electric boot release, wireless charging, Android Auto and Apple Carplay. These features use cameras and sensors to detect vehicles and other objects and intimate the driver.

Apart from the variety of features, the luxury EVs also come with 5-star NCAP safety rating, the highest in the automobile industry. Such incredible features and a well-stylised car is, no doubt, a blessing not only for the scorching Indian summers, but all year around.
