Bengaluru, October 15, 2026: India and Southeast Asia remain the primary growth-oriented cluster for office space in the Asia Pacific region as occupiers focus on quality, operational efficiency, and future readiness, according to a press release issued by Colliers regarding its 2027 Asia Pacific Workplace Insights report.

The survey, which gathered insights from over 300 office occupiers across 11 key markets, indicates that workplace models have largely stabilized, with 82 percent of respondents operating office-centric frameworks and 80 percent expecting no significant policy shifts in the next 12 months. India has emerged as a key growth destination, with 34 percent of occupiers in the India and Southeast Asia cluster actively expanding operations. Rather than seeking space reduction, occupiers are prioritizing value creation, lease renewals, and upgrades to higher-quality, tech-enabled office environments.

Artificial intelligence is also driving operational changes, with all respondents expecting AI to create specialized roles. Additionally, 47 percent of occupiers anticipate that AI will increase demand for new and evolving space formats that facilitate collaboration, learning, and knowledge exchange rather than leading to widespread office space contraction.

Arpit Mehrotra, Managing Director of Office Services at Colliers India, said, “India remains a high-growth office market in the APAC region, underpinned by a resilient economy and sustained occupier expansion. Beyond strong demand prospects, occupiers increasingly view the office as a strategic enabler of business performance, talent attraction and collaboration. This shift is reflected in the APAC survey, where 21% of occupiers in India and Southeast Asia prioritise upgrading to higher-quality office spaces with the same proportion focused on reconfiguring their offices. These trends underscore a growing emphasis on value creation, with businesses investing in workplaces that support evolving workstyles and long-term growth. This flight to quality is expected to play an increasingly important role in occupier decisions across the region.”

Mike Davis, Managing Director of Occupier Services, Asia Pacific at Colliers, said, “The workplace conversation has evolved significantly over the past few years. For most organizations, the question is no longer whether employees should be in the office, but how the workplace contributes to productivity, collaboration, innovation and business performance. Our survey shows that occupiers are becoming increasingly focused on outcomes. The organizations creating the most value are those aligning workplace, technology and talent strategies around measurable business objectives.”
