Leading architects join webinar on Canadian wood

Forestry Innovation Consulting India (FII) has been actively engaged in promoting Canadian wood species in India over the past five years. Canadian wood offers architect, designers, contractor and manufacturers a wide choice of legally harvested wood species for a large variety of application
The Canadian wood lumber is sourced from certified and sustainably managed forests in B.C. Canada and is available duly sized, graded and seasoned, almost ready to use.
Over the years Canadian Wood has worked with a cross section of reputed architects, interior designers, builders and developers across India by assisting them on their projects.
A recent webinar, ‘Architecture in India and Canadian Wood’, further endorsed the numerous applications possible with its species. First-hand experiences of renowned architects on working with Canadian Wood and showcasing their works with Canadian wood species was the major highlight of the event.
The webinar presented in association with FOAID (Festival of Architecture and Interior Design), featured engaging presentations and panel discussion by leading architects, including Sönke Hoof from Vastū Shilpā Consultants, Sidharth Talwar from Studio Lotus and Ketan Jawdekar from Studio K-7.
The event commenced with an introduction of FII and welcome address by Nirmala Thomas – FII Director Market Development and was moderated by Peter Bradfield – FII Technical advisor.
A born artist and an architect by profession, Ketan Jawdekar is the winner of at least 45 international awards. The initial slides of his presentation captured his tangential thinking and abstract approach through snapshots.
Jawdekar’s presentation was followed by a demonstration by Sidhartha Talwar, a believer of conscious design which means an inclusive approach that celebrates local resources, cultural influences and attention to details.
The last session was presented by Sonke Hoof whose impressive work finds special mentions in several prestigious books and magazines. His presentation included a residential project in Ahmedabad.
The three presentations were followed by a panel discussion, moderated by Peter Bradfield. The event concluded with a Q&A session.
Pranesh Chhibber, Country Director at FII, said, “It was an honour for us to have our ninth webinar as the common ground for such outstanding professionals to share some of their best work.”
