MHADA Marks Eighth LokShahi Day

Mumbai, January 13, 2025: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) celebrated its Eighth Lokshahi Day on Monday. The event was chaired by Chief Officer (Mumbai Board) and Acting Vice President & CEO of MHADA Milind Borikar at the MHADA headquarters in Bandra East.
During the session, Ravindra Kamtekar, a complainant, raised concerns over the illegal construction on the terrace of Suruchi Cooperative Housing Society in Abhyudayanagar. He highlighted that despite multiple complaints, no action had been taken under the MRTP Act.
Kamtekar also expressed fears that the unauthorized construction could pose a danger to the building’s safety. Responding to the grievance, the MHADA chief directed the concerned Executive Engineer to conduct a survey of the building and prepare a detailed report. He further instructed that the report be submitted to the Encroachment Removal Cell of the Mumbai Board, with action against the encroachment to be completed within one month.
Another grievance was submitted by Rupesh Ghadi, who had won an allotment under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in the Shirgaon Housing Project, Kalyan, through the Konkan Board’s 2018 lottery. However, he had not yet received possession of the allotted flat. Upon inquiring with the Chief Officer of the Konkan Board, it was found that delays had occurred due to verification issues on the PMAY (Urban) portal, which had now been resolved.
Borikar promptly instructed the concerned officers to hand over possession of the flat to Mr. Ghadi immediately.
A total of four applications were received during today’s Lokshahi Day, with two each related to the Mumbai and Konkan Boards. To date, MHADA has conducted seven Lokshahi Day events, during which 75 out of 81 applications have been resolved.
