MIT-WPU Launches School of Construction Engineering & Management to Train Infrastructure Leaders
Mumbai, July 22, 2026: MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) has launched the Prof. Makarand Hastak School of Construction Engineering & Management, a new academic initiative designed to train infrastructure and real estate leaders. Commencing in the 2026–27 academic year, the school aims to address the growing demand for professionals capable of leading complex infrastructure projects by combining technical engineering, technology, sustainability, and management education, MIT-WPU said in a press release.
The institution’s curriculum will focus on core industry competencies, including Building Information Modelling (BIM), artificial intelligence, digital construction, sustainability, project management, and data-driven decision-making. As its flagship program, the school is offering an MBA in Construction Management, developed to combine academic instruction with practical industry exposure across the real estate, consulting, and infrastructure sectors.
“The construction and infrastructure sector is undergoing a significant transformation driven by technology, sustainability, and rapid urbanisation. Through the Prof. Makarand Hastak School of Construction Engineering & Management, we aim to develop professionals who possess not only strong technical expertise but also the managerial and leadership capabilities required to lead complex infrastructure projects and contribute meaningfully to nation-building,” said Dr. R. M. Chitnis, Vice Chancellor, MIT-WPU.
To strengthen industry integration, the university’s Department of Civil Engineering signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Builders Association of India (BAI), Pune Centre. The partnership will facilitate internships, live projects, mentoring, and placement opportunities. Additionally, MIT-WPU hosted a Round Table Conclave featuring representatives from CREDAI, BAI, ICI, and PCERF, while announcing merit-based tuition fee scholarships for the inaugural batch to encourage enrollment.
