NBCC to resume construction work of Rs 2,250 crore prestigious Pragati Maidan Complex redevelopment project

Receives nod from South Delhi Municipal Corporation to resume construction
New Delhi, October 18, 2018: State owned PSU, NBCC has received nod from South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to resume the construction work at ITPO Complex wherein it is building a world-class convention-cum-exhibition centre at the site of the Pragati Maidan.

After receiving notice from SDMC almost five days ago to stop construction with an aim to check pollution and maintain air quality, NBCC has submitted to SDMC that they have always complied by the stringent measures to curb any kind of pollution of any nature across its projects sites.
The SDMC official in their site visit has verified the dust-mitigation methods adopted by NBCC and reported that NBCC has adopted the precautionary measures at site to bring the Air Quality Index level up to satisfactory standards.
NBCC has followed all the measures, as sprinkling of water, fixed view cutters and wind screens apart from covering of C&D waste and construction material with tarpaulin at site, washing of tyres, and display of dust control measures as per CPCB guidelines. As a responsible CPSE, NBCC always abide by the stringent ways to maintain that no pollution is taking place across its project sites.
All statutory approvals for the project have been obtained along with the environmental clearance by NBCC prior to start of the project.
Commenting on getting the orders to resume construction work, Dr Anoop Kumar Mittal, CMD, NBCC, said, “As a conscious corporate, we at NBCC always do due diligence of the process to be followed and measures to be taken before starting the work at any of our sites. This is followed by continuous & strict monitoring and vigil. Our engineers in consultations with various bodies and consultants always work on a plan to ensure that there is no harmful impact on the environment. We will continue to make earnest efforts towards maintaining the Air Quality Index by adopting requisite dust-mitigation measures at all project sites. ”
“In case of ITPO, the design was conceived by NBCC in association with M/s ARCOP Associates Pvt. Ltd. and Aedas Pte. Ltd. of Singapore. The IECC shall be developed with latest architectural design along with basement parking facility of 4,800 vehicles and comprehensive traffic decongestion interventions. Once redeveloped, IECC will be a landmark spot in Delhi and a symbol of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of ‘New India”.
