Noida Authority plans revamp of city parks
The Noida Authority has decided to revamp nearly 200 parks to enhance the green cover in the city. A budget has been allocated to the Horticulture Department in the new financial year to revamp parks. All three divisions of the department have been assigned the work to develop these parks.
These include around 37 plots, which have been demarcated for parks, but are yet to be developed. There are around 507 parks in the city, out of which 200 are not properly developed. Noida residents have often complained about poor maintenance of parks in the city. According to them, pavements in most of the parks are broken and the greenery is deteriorating.
There are also complaints that parks in industrial areas too are in bad state. Workers of nearby manufacturing units go to parks for lunch and litter the place.
Meanwhile, a report by the Forest Survey of India has discovered that the forest area in the Gautam Budh Nagar district has increased by merely 1sq km in the past 10 years.
