New Delhi, March 6, 2026: Perceptive Ideas Consulting Engineers has announced the completion of the structural design for Vanijya Bhawan, the new integrated office complex for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Located at 16A Akbar Road near the India Gate C-Hexagon, the facility serves as a modern administrative hub while adhering to the strict architectural norms of the Central Vista, the company said in a press statement.

The building, constructed on a 4.3-acre plot, provides approximately 4.3 lakh square feet of space to accommodate the offices of the Union Ministers, the Commerce Secretary, and nearly 2,000 personnel. The structural framework was designed to support a high-occupancy government environment while integrating traditional stone-clad façades with contemporary engineering systems.

The engineering team utilized a techno-commercial approach to meet the project’s specific spatial requirements. This included the implementation of composite columns to maximize load-bearing performance and shallow-depth post-tensioned (PT) beams to allow for expansive, flexible floor layouts. The design also features large-span cantilever projections and a prominent canopy to create column-free zones, intended to improve the building’s internal functionality.

It represents our capabilities and commitment to deliver structural engineering plans within a framework of national heritage. We applied a techno-commercial approach to ensure functionality, longevity and sustainability to maintain the architectural dignity of this project.”

By delivering the structural design for this central government project, Perceptive Ideas has expanded its institutional portfolio, which includes other public works such as the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre. The firm continues to focus on the application of modern construction technologies, including steel-concrete composites and advanced slab systems, to support India’s evolving public infrastructure.
