Prateek Group Demands High-Level Inquiry Against Another Developer for Illegal Diversion, Blockage of Drainage Path
Ghaziabad, May 9 2025: Prateek Group has demanded a high-level inquiry and strict action regarding the illegal drain diversion and blockage by another developer in the vicinity. The drain diversion is the root cause of basement flooding in Prateek Grand City, located in Siddharth Vihar, Ghaziabad.
The illegal blockage of the Kaccha Nala and its diversion caused flooding in the basement of Prateek Group Housing’s Grand Carnesia and Grand Paeonia on May 2. It was caused by the rupture in the Nala near the Prateek Grand City project site.
The drain runs past the Prateek Group’s project site towards the Hindon River. However, just ahead of the project, the direction of the drain was allegedly changed by another developer. The diversion obstructed the natural flow of water, increasing pressure on the drain and ultimately causing the wall to collapse. Consequently, water flowed into the ongoing project site and the basement of Prateek Grand City.
A high-level inquiry into the incident has been demanded along with strict action against those responsible. The flooding caused severe inconvenience to the residents of Prateek Grand City.
With the support of Avas Vikas Parishad, the Municipal Corporation and the district administration, the Group swiftly responded to the situation, established a dedicated help desk for affected families and mobilised a team of approximately 100 professionals for emergency operations.
Each of the 3,000 households was provided with 20 litres of drinking water. Multiple water pumps, tractors and other equipment were deployed around the clock to extract the water. Within a short span, the basement was completely cleared, sanitisation was carried out and essential services, including elevators and water supply, were restored.
Besides, the Group took the responsibility of constructing the permanent and concrete drainage line at its own cost. It also submitted formal representations to concerned government authorities and contacted the Chief Minister’s Office seeking intervention. The Group has further stated that the altered drain alignment and structural issues are visible on Apple Map.
