Gurugram, April 9, 2026: The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) of Gurugram has cleared its entire backlog of pending complaints up to the year 2024. As of today, every case currently under adjudication before the Authority dates from 2025 onwards, marking a significant milestone in the body’s effort to provide timely justice to aggrieved stakeholders, RERA Gurugram said in a press release.

The Authority successfully resolved 2,174 cases that were pending as of March 31, 2025. This backlog spanned several years, including 15 cases from 2018, 28 from 2019, 10 from 2020, 74 from 2021, 333 from 2022, 654 from 2023, and 1,060 cases from 2024. In the 2025 calendar year alone, the Authority adjudicated a total of 5,024 complaints, granting refunds or delayed possession charges (DPC) based on the individual merits of each filing.

In an official statement, the Authority emphasized its commitment to procedural integrity while striving for greater efficiency. “The RERA has to follow the principles of natural justice in disposal of cases and Authority’s goal is to bring time taken in disposal of cases from the now ensuing 12- 15 months to 6-9 months,” the statement noted. It further clarified that “all the cases listed before the Authority are adjudicated following the principles of natural justice and Rule of Law and the relief enumerated in the section 18 of the RERA Act are granted as per the specifics of the case.”

Despite historically facing a significant backlog that caused considerable delays for many litigants, RERA Gurugram has now emerged as a national leader in complaint resolution. According to the status trackers on the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs website, RERA Gurugram boasts a disposal rate of 93.62%, having resolved 16,753 out of 17,893 registered complaints. This performance places it ahead of other major regulators, including RERA Uttar Pradesh (86.71%), RERA Maharashtra (82.03%), and RERA Karnataka (81.54%).

While the data shows that Gurugram ranks third in the country for the total volume of registered complaints, it holds the top spot for the percentage of cases resolved. Moving forward, the Authority stated it is “working tirelessly to reduce time taken by the Authority in disposal of complaints filed by aggrieved home buyers and it fancies to be the best RERA in terms of speedy and effective handling of buyers’ complaints.” This shift toward a more agile adjudication process is expected to bolster buyer confidence in one of India’s most active residential markets.
