Sanjay Lake project gets DDA approval
Delhi L-G and DDA Chairperson Najeeb Jung on Wednesday approved the Authority’s ambitious project to develop area around Sanjay Lake in East Delhi. The project aims to develop a promenade, open-air shopping and eating space around the lake.
DDA officials said the complex will be spread over approximately 10.26 hectares of land and will be based on Transit Oriented Development (TOD) policy which seeks to utilise commercial and residential land space together. The land will be developed in partnership with the National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC).
“The creation of a city-level destination near a beautiful lake will enhance the local economy and help change and upgrade the area. This will eventually restore a sense of safety and social pride in the vicinity of Trilokpuri and Kalyanpuri,” DDA Vice-Chairman, Balwinder Kumar was quoted in the media as saying. He added that the basic objective of the project was to enhance environmental value and usability of the lake which has been shrinking gradually.
