Conference to promote the development of effective use of sustainable energy for Smart Cities
SRM University-AP in association with Amara Raja Batteries is hosting an “International Conference on Green Energy Technologies for Smart Cities (GETSC-2018)” at SRM University-AP, Amaravati during December 19 – 21, 2018. Dr. V K Saraswat, Honourable Member, NITI Aayog, (National Institution for transforming India) will inaugurate the conference.
During the conference, a series of presentations and panel discussions will cover basic and advanced fields of research – materials & computational sciences, biotechnology, environmental science and engineering, health education and environment. Equal emphasis will be placed on practical technologies and applications for smart cities such as smart grids, storage solutions (hydrogen production, batteries & energy storage technologies) fuel cells & sensor technologies, carbon foot print as well as smart waste management systems.
Over 45 international delegates from over 10 countries and 150 delegates from across India will be attending – these include distinguished academics, researchers and higher education leaders in the field of material science, renewable energy and green technologies. The conferencewill be chaired by SRM AP Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. D. Narayana Rao, Dr. Arumugam Manthiram, Director, Texas Materials Institute, UT-Austin, USA and M. Jagadish, CTO, Amara Raja Batteries, India.
“We at SRM AP are focused on R&D and deploying it for greater good. One of the main problems regarding the Smart City projects is the issue of energy access and the prohibitive costs thereof. We aim to prove throughthis conference that sustainable need not be expensive and we need to focus on solutions that are green and sustainable in our quest for energy solutions. We are bringing in global experts to share their work with us”, says Dr. D. Narayana Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor, SRM AP – Amaravati and the Conference Chairman.
SRM APs conference aims at highlighting advancements in the principal sciences that sustain modern green cities – namely, Green Energy, Renewable Energy, Materials Science, Environmental Science, and Green Technologies. The conference will work as a bridge between the academic community (faculty and research students), practitioners and policymakers.
The idea is to explore ways to promote the development and use of sustainable energy without disrupting the environmental and social fabric of smart cities. “Putting the focus on green technologies specifically designed for smart cities is the best investment for the future”, says Dr. Jatis Kumar Dash, Assistant Professor, Physics and the Conference Convener.
