Stalled Sports City Project Gets Conditional Occupancy Certificate

Noida, January 8, 2026: The Noida Authority has issued a conditional occupancy certificate to the stalled Sports City project in Sector 150. The decision came at a meeting of the authority last week and follows a November 24 order of the Supreme Court that okayed a revival framework for the Sports City SC-02 project by Lotus Green Constructions.

Work has been allowed to resume after almost three years; no less than 20,000 homebuyers seeking possession or registration have breathed a sigh of relief.

Lotus Green Constructions has said it can pay a fifth of its dues within two months of approval of a new masterplan, with the remaining in six half-yearly installments over three years. The revised masterplan will soon be placed before the board to assess its compliance with the original Sports City scheme. That plan says 70 per cent of the land is meant for sports facilities and the remainder for residential and commercial use.

Lotus Green is committed to completing all sports facilities within three years of the new plan’s approval and the remaining residential and commercial development within five years.
The apex court has allowed zero-period benefits for recalculating dues for the Covid period from March 1, 2020, to March 31, 2022. It also permitted joint ventures or co-development, subject to the authority’s approval. The court clarified that the order will not serve as a precedent and that non-compliance would allow cancellation.

“We are thankful to the Apex court, UP govt and Noida Authority. It’s a win of all stakeholders including thousands of home buyers, who stand with the consortium members during difficult times,” a spokesperson of Lotus Greens told a leading daily.

Lotus Green and its consortium partners owe about INR 4,200 crore, of which around INR 100 crore was deposited recently. The Supreme Court will review compliance on January 15.

The board also approved a proposal to set up Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) near drains for better management It also approved the proposal for the selection of a consultant for the preparation of the city logistics plan, after obtaining presentations from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and IIT Roorkee.
