Tamil Nadu Govt Enlists REPL to Create GIS-Based Master Plans for 12 ULBs
Chennai / October 23, 2024: Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), Government of Tamil Nadu, has appointed Rudrabhishek Enterprises Ltd. (REPL), to prepare GIS-based Master Plans for 12 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) under AMRUT 2.0 Sub-Scheme.
In line with the Tamil Nadu Government’s commitment to planned and sustainable urban development, REPL will conduct a detailed assessment of the state’s regional development trends. Utilizing advanced GIS technology, REPL will thoroughly analyze existing conditions and identify opportunities for improvement. This comprehensive review will involve examining current development patterns, pinpointing gaps, and formulating strategic recommendations to create more efficient, resilient, and livable cities. By understanding both present and future scenarios, REPL will provide valuable insights to inform the government’s decision-making process and drive sustainable urban planning initiatives in Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu DTCP said in a statement.
Pradeep Misra, CMD-REPL, stated, “The preparation of these GIS-based Master Plans presents a significant opportunity to guide the sustainable growth of these planning areas. Our approach will be holistic, incorporating disaster management, housing, infrastructure, and economic development. Our team is committed to delivering master plans that meet the immediate needs of these towns and pave the way for long-term, sustainable growth, leveraging our decades of expertise to execute these projects efficiently and precisely”.
Prabhakar Kumar, Head Urban, REPL, added, “Preparing the GIS-based Master Plans for Tamil Nadu will involve a multifaceted approach to development. It will be designed to ensure comprehensive stakeholder engagement, meticulous data gathering, and thoughtful master plan formulation. The Master Plan will include Blue and Green Infrastructure, Mobility Improvements, Investment Plan, Form Based Codes, Tourism and Waterfront development plan. Master plan will also comprise Heritage conservation plan and climate change adaptation. This holistic strategy will be crucial for fostering sustainable development and improving the quality of life across the region. The whole mapping of the region will be done through drone survey.”
REPL is currently engaged in multiple urban development projects across Tamil Nadu, working for both the state and central governments.
Under Package 1 of the state’s urban development initiative, REPL is involved in projects for Theni Allinagaram, Valparai, Udhagamandalam, Cumbam, Bodinayakanur, and Mettupalayam ULBs. Package 5 includes Edappadi, Udumalaipettai, Gobichettipalayam, Dharapuram, Mettur, and Pollachi ULBs, the statement added.
Beyond these projects, REPL is actively contributing to other significant initiatives in the region. Notable assignments include the Madurai Smart City project, Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2, the Development Plan for Chennai Outer Ring Road Growth Corridor, the Street Vending Plan for Chennai City, and PMC for CMRL Property Development.
