U.P. RERA Advises Conducting Real Estate Transactions Only Through RERA-Registered Agents

Lucknow / Gautam Budh Nagar, September 17, 2024: The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (U.P. RERA) has advised home buyers and promoters to conduct real estate transactions only through agents registered with RERA to safeguard their interests. In cases where a RERA-registered agent provides false or misleading information during a transaction, affected parties can file a complaint with U.P. RERA. The authority has the power to penalize agents found guilty of such misconduct, U.P. RERA said in a press statement.
U.P. RERA has observed deficiencies in the skills and commitment of real estate agents, leading to inadequate service and consumer dissatisfaction. As a result, RERA has decided to grant registration only to individuals and institutions that meet minimum skill and aptitude requirements. Moving forward, short-term training and certification will be mandatory for both new agent registrations and the renewal of existing registrations. Individuals can verify an agent’s credentials on the REGISTERED AGENT page of the U.P. RERA portal at www.up-rera.in.

Sanjay Bhoosreddy, Chairman, U.P. RERA, stated, “The real estate agents have an important role in the real estate sector. It is of paramount importance that they show transparency and credibility. We are aiming at the introduction of professionalism in the work of Real Estate Agents and, therefore, we have made arrangements for training and certification of agents. We are expecting the stakeholders will make the sales and purchase in real estate projects only through the agents who are registered with RERA, and they will also verify the registration details of such agents from our website. We are working towards effectively controlling the recklessness at the end of the agents and to improve the security of the investments of the consumers.”
