UP RERA to Open Portal Window for QPR Uploading Promoters Advised Timely Compliance
Lucknow/Gautam Buddh Nagar, March 25, 2026:
The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has announced that the portal window for uploading Quarterly Progress Reports (QPR) will remain open from April 1 to April 15. Real estate promoters of all registered projects have been directed to update their project information for the first quarter ending March 31, 2026. The Authority has emphasized that timely compliance is mandatory to avoid severe regulatory penalties and to maintain the integrity of the real estate sector, UP RERA said in a press note.
UP RERA has clarified that the submission of these reports is far more than a routine administrative task. It serves as a vital tool for ensuring transparency and protecting the interests of homebuyers by making construction status, approval availability, and project timelines public. By providing access to accurate and updated data, the regulatory body enables consumers to make informed financial decisions. Under Section 11(1) of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, every promoter is legally obligated to update project details on the Authority’s website at the close of each quarter.
The consequences for negligence are significant, with the Authority reiterating that non-compliance is treated as a direct violation of the Act. Under Section 61, promoters who fail to upload their QPRs could face penalties amounting to as much as five percent of the total project cost. UP RERA has advised all stakeholders to ensure that all required information is available on the portal by the April 15 deadline. The Authority believes that timely updating of QPR helps maintain transparency in the affairs of the promoters with respect of the projects and strengthens the confidence of homebuyers.
In a move to demonstrate the seriousness of these requirements, UP RERA recently took strict enforcement actions against several defaulters. Heavy penalties were imposed on two Lucknow-based promoters for failing to submit reports for multiple consecutive quarters. These included the project “ARPITA INFINITY” by Shushil Kumar Katiyar and “GANPATI SMART CITY” by Ganpati Infrastructure Development Company Limited. Through this step, UP RERA has sent a clear message that non-compliance with critical regulatory provisions like QPR will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and strict action will continue in such cases in the future.
