UP RERA Urges Homebuyers to Deposit Payments Only Into Designated Project Accounts

Lucknow, October 13, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has advised homebuyers to exercise caution while making property payments and deposit funds exclusively into the designated collection account of the respective real estate project, according to an official press release.
The regulatory authority emphasised that verifying account details on the official UP RERA portal before transferring money is a critical step toward ensuring financial transparency and protecting buyers from potential risks. Homebuyers must ensure that payments for property bookings, instalments, or other dues are directed solely to the project’s designated collection account.
UP RERA has instructed buyers to report any promoter or builder requesting payments into alternative bank accounts. Homebuyers can submit details of such requests through a dedicated reporting link available on the authority’s official portal.
To ensure safe payment practices, UP RERA outlined three key precautions for homebuyers: deposit funds only into the project’s specified collection account, verify bank details on the portal prior to making transfers, and promptly notify the authority if asked to make payments into unauthorized accounts. Through this advisory, the authority aims to strengthen financial safety and promote transparency across real estate transactions in the state.
