Vascon Engineers and COEP Partner to Launch Centre of Excellence for Construction Innovation
Pune, March 2, 2026: In a significant move to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application, Vascon Engineers Ltd. has officially inaugurated a new Centre of Excellence at the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) Technological University. The 18,000 sq. ft. facility, situated on the historic COEP campus, is designed to serve as a premier hub for research, testing, and the deployment of cutting-edge technologies within the construction and infrastructure sectors.
The Centre represents a collaborative ecosystem, with specific segments developed in partnership with the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI). Additionally, the facility will house a state-of-the-art Plumbing Lab established in association with the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA). This multi-disciplinary platform aims to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including urban planners, government bodies, architects, and EPC companies, to foster a culture of knowledge exchange and live technology demonstrations.
Focused on the future of the built environment, the Centre will prioritize research into sustainable and prefabricated materials, robotics, modular systems, and Building Information Modeling (BIM). It also aims to address critical urban challenges through advanced energy and water management solutions, green building practices, and digital site analytics. For students and faculty, the facility offers a rare opportunity for hands-on exposure to real-world industrial practices and pilot projects.
The inauguration carried deep personal significance, as it coincided with the 50th anniversary of the graduating batch of Mr. R. Vasudevan, Founder & Chairman Emeritus of Vascon Engineers Ltd. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vasudevan said: “The Centre of Excellence at COEP reflects our long-standing association with the institution and our focus on building stronger linkages between industry and academia. Focusing on latest technology in project execution. As construction practices evolve with greater use of technology and data, the Centre will serve as a shared space for learning, testing and application.”
With nearly four decades of legacy in the realty and EPC sectors, Vascon Engineers’ latest contribution reinforces the importance of alumni-led initiatives in strengthening educational infrastructure. As the industry moves toward increased automation and data-driven site tools, this Centre is poised to become a vital laboratory for the next generation of engineers and developers in India.
