Venkaia hopens Ramakrishna Mission’s shelter for homeless
NEW DELHI: Urban Development and Housing Minister M Venkaiah Naidu took part in the handing over ceremony of Vivekanand Shelter constructed by Ramakrishna Mission to Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), on Wednesday.
The Mission has completed the four-storeyed night shelter building at Avantika Market in Sector-1, Rohini, within nine months and it was handed over by Swami Shantatmananda ji Maharaj to Amarnanth, CEO of DUSIB.
Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said the thoughts and ideals of Swami Vivekanand are eternal. Considering the way the society is heading these days these thoughts are more applicable today than at any other time, he added.
He said the present Government is fully committed to ‘Antyodaya’ and to carry forward its objectives, several activities like skill up gradation, construction of night shelters, formation of self-help groups and providing financial support for livelihood activities will be taken up in all towns across the country with a population of more than 5,000.
