Motorsport Boost: Japan’s Super Formula Racing Eyes India for Expansion

Noida, November 7, 2025: In an exciting development for Indian motorsport fans, the world’s second fastest racing series after Formula 1 — Japan’s prestigious Super Formula — is exploring the possibility of hosting an event in India. The Japan Race Promotion Corporation (JRC), which organizes the celebrated racing series, recently visited the Yamuna Expressway Authority to express keen interest in bringing this globally renowned event to Indian soil.

The delegation, which included Yoshihisa Ueno (President), Takuya Hori (Technical Director), Takashi Matsui (GM of Corporate Strategy Department), and Genki Miura (Assistant Manager of International Sales and Marketing Department), met Rakesh Kumar Singh, CEO of YEIDA, Nagendra Pratap Singh CEO of YEIDA and Shailendra Bhatia OSD of YEIDA. During their visit they also went to the YEIDA Sector 25 Buddha International Circuit race track along with Shailendra Bhatia to explore the feasibility of hosting a Super Formula races at this world-class facility. Their visit signals a major step toward potentially establishing India as a new destination on the Super Formula calendar.

Since its inception in 1973, Super Formula has evolved into a global motorsport spectacle, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023. Featuring elite drivers worldwide, the championship offers a unique platform for talent exchange and diversity. Notably, this year marks a historic milestone with 17-year-old Juju Noda becoming Japan’s first female driver to compete in the series, highlighting the sport’s inclusivity and progressive spirit.

Super Formula’s appeal is further amplified by its cutting-edge SFGo platform, which provides real-time driver data and currently boasts an impressive 50,000 users globally. The series is also gaining substantial traction on social media channels like X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube, with viewership steadily climbing alongside growing annual spectator numbers breaking previous attendance records.

The prospect of hosting Super Formula in India presents significant opportunities.
