CII-IGBC Launches 33rd Chapter in Siliguri to Drive Sustainable Infrastructure
Siliguri, September 10, 2026: The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), launched its 33rd chapter in Siliguri to promote sustainable building practices and support resource-efficient development across North Bengal. The launch event took place at the Marriott, Siliguri, bringing together representatives from the Government of West Bengal, real estate developers, architects, and industry experts, IGBC said in a press release.
The new regional chapter will be led by IGBC Siliguri Chapter Chairman K. K. Roy, who serves as Founder & Director of Green Architecture Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd., and IGBC Siliguri Chapter Co-Chairman Sandeep Goyal, Founder & MD of SandeepG Real Estate.\
Attending as the Guest of Honour, Government of West Bengal Minister of State (MoS) for Finance & Transport Anandamay Barman said, “The launch of the IGBC Siliguri Chapter represents an important step towards bringing sustainability closer to the development priorities of North Bengal. As the region continues to grow, it is important that infrastructure and urban development are supported by responsible and resource-efficient practices. Collaboration between government, industry and professionals will be essential in building a greener and more resilient North Bengal.”
Addressing the assembly, IGBC National Chairman C Shekar Reddy said, “The launch of the IGBC Siliguri Chapter marks an important milestone in extending the green building movement to North Bengal. Siliguri and the wider region have significant potential for sustainable urban growth, and the new chapter will help bring together government, industry, architects, developers, academia and other stakeholders to advance green building practices. Through greater awareness, knowledge-sharing and adoption of innovative technologies and solutions, we look forward to supporting the creation of a greener, healthier and more resilient built environment in North Bengal.”
The inaugural proceedings were opened by CII North Bengal Council Chairman Satish Mitruka, followed by a presentation on sustainable opportunities by CII Indian Green Building Council Executive Director M Anand. The event also featured the launch of IGBC Student Chapters, the felicitation of an IGBC Green Project, a panel discussion on local development aspirations, and a technical session showcasing low-carbon building materials, energy-efficient infrastructure solutions, and cost-effective certification frameworks.
