Dharavi Experience Centre Opens to Showcase Future Homes and Workplaces

Mumbai, October 2, 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Friday that the newly launched Dharavi Experience Centre will allow residents to directly experience their future homes, neighbourhoods, and workplaces, going beyond merely showcasing blueprints of the redevelopment project. Speaking during a media interaction, he stated that the initiative aims to curb rumours, misconceptions, and incomplete information while fostering an atmosphere of trust around the redevelopment.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the state-of-the-art facility located near BKC in PMGP Colony’s H Block. The center offers both physical and digital previews of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project plan, including rehabilitated homes, industrial spaces, and upcoming social infrastructure. The inauguration was attended by Adani Group Managing Director Pranav Adani, BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, Mumbai Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) CEO Dr Mahendra Kalyankar, Dharavi Redevelopment Project CEO and SRA Secretary Vipin Paliwal, and Adani Navbharat Developers Private Ltd CEO Anil Sardana.
Following an inspection of the facility, Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the economic importance of the locality, noting that Dharavi is a major economic engine driven by industries such as Kumbharwada’s pottery, leather business, food processing, plastic recycling, and various micro, small, and medium enterprises. He emphasized that the redevelopment plan respects these businesses by providing better, well-planned workspaces, representing a comprehensive urban transformation that preserves Dharavi’s existing social, cultural, and economic identity. He added that the initiative serves as an ideal example of the urban transformation taking place across the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Chief Minister explained that the centre will provide real-time information detailing Dharavi’s present structure and its future evolution, helping address the questions and confusion among residents regarding life post-redevelopment. He expressed confidence that bringing information about homes, roads, open grounds, social amenities, and employment opportunities under one roof will benefit citizens, stakeholders, and urban planning researchers nationwide. Utilizing modern audio-visual and digital technology to illustrate the transformation, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also launched a special song titled “Dharavi Ka Kal” sung by Shankar Mahadevan and released the book “Mere Sapno Ki Dharavi” during the event.
