NCRTC Records Growth and Expands Regional Connectivity Across Delhi-Meerut Corridor

New Delhi, October 27, 2026: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has recorded steady operational milestones on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, according to a press release.
Since commencing phased operations in October 2023, the corridor has registered over 4.8 crore passenger journeys and currently serves more than 1.1 lakh commuters daily. The network achieved a peak single-day ridership of over 1.68 lakh passengers, demonstrating increasing reliance on regional rail systems for daily transit. The system maintains an operational speed of 160 kmph alongside a 99.9 per cent punctuality rate.
The regional rapid transit system has provided a high-speed alternative to road travel, helping commuters bypass traffic congestion and extreme weather disruptions. Key features of the system include air-conditioned coaches, scheduled train operations, modern station infrastructure, and direct integration with existing public transport networks such as Indian Railways, Metro lines, interstate bus terminals, and city buses. The infrastructure is also designed to support Meerut Metro services on the same operational framework to strengthen regional connectivity.
Beyond day-to-day transit, the corridor is exerting a broader influence on demographic and urban development patterns within the region. Operational efficiency and reduced travel times are encouraging working professionals employed in Delhi to relocate to surrounding cities within the National Capital Region. Higher accessibility is improving access to commercial centers and educational institutions, while areas surrounding Namo Bharat stations are witnessing structured real estate, commercial, and service-sector growth aligned with Transit-Oriented Development initiatives.
