Ashiana gets grant for its women-specific CSR initiatives

A grant of Canadian $70,000 (approx Rs 35 Lakh) has been awarded by the Sustainability Innovation Grant Fund (SIG fund) towards women empowerment project of Ashiana Housing Ltd. The award is instituted by Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), a Canadian organisation.
According to a press release, Ashiana Housing was recommended by Creador, a fund management company. Ashiana accepted the proposal and applied for the grant with a focus on women empowerment.
Under the company’s women-specific CSR activities, Ashiana Housing will be training 250 women within a period of 18 months The total spend for the same is decided at Rs 70 lakh, including the grant received.
The company aims to utilise the amount for women’s skill training programmes to make them independent and enable them to earn a better living. Through this initiative, women will be trained to become better masons, housekeeping and security staff, thereby increasing their employability quotient.
