UP plans airport near Greater Noida
The Uttar Pradesh Government has said it will set up an international airport in the NCR region at Jewar near Greater Noida, according to a published media report.
Uttar Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Minister Kamal Akhtar on Wednesday said, “The construction will commence as soon as we get all required approvals and clearances from the Centre.”
Speaking at the credai Annual Conclave 2015, Akhtar said the formalities and documentation required at the State Government level would be completed in the next 15-30 days.
Last week replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of state for civil aviation Mahesh Sharma had said that the Centre had received a request from the UP Chief Minister for construction of a greenfield airport at Jewar.
However, the state Government needed to submit a complete updated proposal in accordance with the Greenfield Airport Policy of 2008, Sharma added.
