Bio-metric attendance system soon for UD ministry employees
NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Urban Development and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday directed that bio-metric attendance markers should be put in place expeditiously in the ministry and staff attendance should be monitored strictly.
The directive followed a surprise check conducted by Naidu at Nirman Bhawan on Monday. He went around various offices and was there for over an hour.
According to a press release issued by the ministry, Naidu noted perceptible improvement in the cleanliness and maintenance of Nirman Bhawan since his last such inspection on June 12. He however, noted that personnel at lower rungs like section heads and supporting staff in large number did not report for work in time and took a serious view of the same.
During the inspection, Naidu was accompanied by Shankar Aggarwal, Secretary(Urban Development) and other senior officials of both the ministries.
Later, the ministers directed that all Joint Secretaries of the two ministries will visit their respective establishments every day for a week to monitor attendance and find out chronic offenders. He also ordered immediate action against those reporting late for work.
