CII IGBC Hosts Green Mysuru Conclave 2026 to Champion Sustainable Infrastructure and Urban Heritage

Mysuru, April 25, 2026: The CII Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Mysuru Chapter convened a stakeholder engagement session at the Southern Star on April 24, 2026, aimed at accelerating the region’s transition toward a sustainable built environment. The “Green Mysuru Conclave 2026” brought together government officials, industry leaders, and academic experts to align urban development with ecological goals. The city currently boasts a green building footprint of 7.53 million square feet across more than 30 registered projects, including Jalabhavan, the Infosys Mysore SDB5 blocks, and City Centre Mall, signaling a significant shift from environmental intent to large-scale implementation, CII IGBC said in a press statement.

During the inaugural session, officials highlighted the theme “Sustainable Mysuru – Blending Culture, Climate & Community,” emphasizing the state’s ambition to lead India’s urban sustainability movement. Shaikh Tanveer Asif, Commissioner of the Mysuru City Corporation, emphasized the necessity of civic involvement and industrial collaboration in maintaining the city’s cleanliness and resource security. He noted the establishment of a 200-tonne material recovery facility and a 150 TPD waste management unit as part of the city’s mechanization efforts.
Commenting on the importance of community and corporate synergy, Shaikh Tanveer Asif remarked, “The business community of Mysuru has consistently extended strong support to the Mysuru City Corporation for various civic initiatives. Enhancing civic sense among citizens remains a key priority in maintaining Mysuru’s cleanliness. We are actively working towards mechanizing our operations, having established nearly 200 tonnes of solid waste material recovery facilities and an additional 150 TPD waste management facility. Achieving long-term sustainability requires greater participation from citizens, institutions, and NGOs. We encourage stakeholders to contribute by adopting parks, maintaining public spaces, supporting mechanization efforts, and engaging in knowledge-sharing and community-driven initiatives. Corporate Social Responsibility can play a vital role in strengthening these efforts. We urge the citizens and institutional leaders of Mysuru to join hands with the Mysuru City Corporation in building a sustainable, vibrant, and green city. Partnerships with organizations like IGBC enable us to adopt best practices and create a more resilient and environmentally conscious urban ecosystem.”
Utsav Agarwal, Chairman of CII Mysuru Zone, reinforced the vision of balancing heritage with modernity. He stated, “Mysuru has always been a city that balances heritage with forward-looking development, and today, sustainability is central to that vision. At CII Mysuru Zone, we have been actively engaging industry and institutions to adopt energy-efficient practices, responsible resource management, and cleaner technologies. The Green Mysuru Conclave is a timely initiative that brings together key stakeholders to align on practical, scalable solutions for a greener future. By fostering collaboration between industry, government, and academia, we can collectively accelerate Mysuru’s transition towards a more sustainable and resilient urban ecosystem.”
The conclave also addressed the regulatory and policy frameworks required to support green infrastructure. K Sriram, Chairman of the IGBC National Committee for Policies & Incentives, highlighted Mysuru’s potential to serve as a national model. He said, “Mysuru stands at a defining moment in India’s sustainability journey, where heritage and forward-thinking urbanisation can seamlessly coexist. The vision of ‘Sustainable Mysuru – Blending Culture, Climate & Community’ is not merely aspirational—it is actionable through strong policy frameworks, targeted incentives, and deep stakeholder collaboration. As a nation, we must accelerate the adoption of green building practices by embedding sustainability into regulatory ecosystems, encouraging innovation in materials and design, and enabling developers and industries to transition towards low-carbon growth pathways. Mysuru, with its rich cultural fabric and progressive governance, has the potential to become a lighthouse city—demonstrating how policy-led transformation, backed by industry commitment and citizen participation, can create resilient, climate-responsive urban habitats for the future.”
Aligning with this sentiment, Vinod Maroli, Chairman of the IGBC Mysuru Chapter, and D Srihari, Co-Chairman, shared a unanimous thought that “Mysuru stands at a pivotal point in its urban development journey, where integrating sustainability into infrastructure is essential. Through IGBC’s holistic frameworks, IGBC Mysuru Chapter is enabling stakeholders to build green at scale while embedding sustainability into everyday practices. At the same time, Mysuru’s cultural identity and strong community spirit offer a unique opportunity to drive grassroots engagement alongside innovation. Platforms like the Green Mysuru Conclave are key to fostering collaboration and accelerating action. Our vision is to position Mysuru as a benchmark city for environmentally responsible, resource-efficient, and inclusive urban development.”
The event featured technical sessions on smart solutions and eco-friendly practices, alongside a panel discussion on economic enablers with representatives from the University of Mysuru, Brigade Group, and Club Mahindra. The conclave concluded with a unified pledge to strengthen Mysuru’s position as a leader in sustainable urbanism, with the IGBC committing to provide continued technical expertise, certification programs, and advocacy to enhance energy efficiency and waste management across all sectors of the city.
