Collective Effort Needed to Keep Pune India’s Most Liveable City: Civil Aviation Minister at CREDAI Pune General Body Meeting 2026
Pune, March 9, 2026: During the 2026 General Body Meeting of CREDAI Pune held at the Sheraton Grand on Friday, Murlidhar Mohol, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, called for a unified effort between developers, administration, and citizens to sustain Pune’s urban excellence. Addressing a gathering of over 200 developers, the Minister emphasized that the city’s top ranking on the liveability index is a shared responsibility, noting that Pune is currently entering a transformative phase of growth that requires meticulous future planning.
According to a press statement, the Minister lauded the real estate industry’s role in driving modern infrastructure but issued a cautionary note regarding the challenges of rapid urbanization. He remarked, “The construction sector plays a vital role in shaping the urban landscape by driving planned development, modern infrastructure, and improving citizens’ quality of life. In the context of rapid urbanisation, the industry must continue to prioritise responsible, environmentally conscious, and sustainable development. Organisations like CREDAI help maintain transparency and quality within the sector, and that developers, the administration, and citizens must work together to build a well-planned and sustainable Pune. Pune being ranked as the most liveable city is not the achievement of one or two people – it is the collective effort of everyone. Ultimately, all of us are working to fulfil the dream of giving every common citizen a home and a better quality of life. This is about our Pune. Today, Pune is at the start of a major phase of change. While we speak proudly about our city, we must also ensure that we continue to provide citizens with good infrastructure, facilities and solutions to challenges such as traffic. If we fail to take the right steps now, the very things we celebrate today could become problems in the future.”
Highlighting the scale of the task ahead, Minister Mohol pointed out that with a city population nearing seven million and a substantial floating population, robust civic infrastructure is essential to complement residential growth.
He shared an optimistic outlook on connectivity, stating, “Public transport and connectivity are central to this vision. The first 32 km of the Pune Metro is already operational – something many once believed would never happen. With new corridors progressing and receiving approvals, Pune could have nearly 150 km of metro connectivity over the next two to three years. Air connectivity is also set to improve, with developments at Lohegaon Airport expected to accommodate wide-bodied aircraft, while projects such as the Missing Link are further strengthening regional connectivity. All these initiatives are important because they will define Pune’s growth in the coming years. Our vision is to make Pune a global capability centre capital and a hub for innovation, with projects like the Bharat Mandapam Innovation Centre planned near the airport. These developments will ensure that citizens can access better infrastructure, seamless connectivity and an even higher quality of life.”
The event also marked the launch of CREDAIBILITY.AI, described as the world’s first AI-powered property search platform designed to provide verified, spam-free property discovery for homebuyers. CREDAI Pune President Manish Jain detailed the association’s recent milestones, including the “Trafficure” pilot project for traffic management and ongoing policy representations regarding the Annual Statement of Rates (ASR).
Jain stated, “The real estate sector has a significant role to play in shaping Pune’s future urban landscape. Innovation, transparency and collaboration with government and civic authorities are essential to building a sustainable and well-planned city. To further strengthen communication with our members, we have also introduced a dedicated email ID through which members’ concerns can be addressed more efficiently. One of the recent initiatives undertaken in collaboration with the police department relates to an efficient traffic management system called Trafficure.”

Reiterating the commitment to ethical growth, CREDAI Pune Vice President Arvind Jain highlighted the evolving role of developers in a competitive market. He noted, “Pune continues to be one of India’s most dynamic real estate markets, and the role of responsible developers has never been more important. At CREDAI Pune, we are committed to promoting transparency, ethical development practices and constructive engagement with government and civic authorities. Through initiatives such as CREDAIBILITY.AI and active policy representation, we aim to create a more trustworthy and efficient ecosystem for homebuyers while contributing to the city’s long-term urban growth.” The meeting concluded with a special session on personal branding for CEOs by CA Sarthak Ahuja and a networking dinner.
