Delhi HC’s Temporary Injunction in WTCA’s Favour on Use of Registered Trademarks
New Delhi, May 9, 2025: On May 2, the Delhi High Court granted a temporary injunction in favour of the World Trade Centers Association, Inc. (WTCA), restraining former licensee WTC Noida Development Company Pvt. Ltd. and its related entities from the Bhalla Group of Companies from further use of any of the WTCA’s registered trademarks, namely, World Trade Center, WTC and Map Design device mark.
On February 18, to protect its brands and the reputation of WTCA’s other members around the world, the WTCA terminated all of its licence agreements with WTC Noida Development Company Pvt. Ltd. and called on it to discontinue all use of the WTCA’s trademarks, which it failed to do.
A WTCA company spokesperson said, “We are gratified that the Delhi High Court recognised that the Bhalla Group of Companies was continuing to infringe our world-famous brands and that it granted our request to enjoin them from further damaging our brands.”
WTCA looks forward to shifting the focus in India back “to our local members’ iconic architecture and their sophisticated trade service practices that highlight the WTCA’s international network of more than 300 Member trade operations in 90 countries around the world”, the spokesperson added.
