India–Japan Medtech Collaboration Gets Booster Shot After Key YEIDA Meeting

Gautam Buddh Nagar, November 13, 2025: A high-level meeting was held today at the Yamuna Express Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) Medical Devices Park to explore investment opportunities for Japanese MedTech companies in India. The meeting was chaired by Rakesh Kumar Singh (IAS), CEO, YEIDA, and co-chaired by Shailendra Kumar Bhatia, OSD, YEIDA. From Japanese side, Kenji Shibuya, CEO, Medical Excellence Japan (MEJ) lead the discussions. The session witnessed participation from senior officials of YEIDA, MEJ, the Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices (EPCMD), and representatives of companies allotted land at the Park.

YEIDA presented an overview of the Medical Devices Park (MDP), one of India’s three government-approved medical device parks, spread across 350 acres with a project cost of INR 440 crore, including INR 100 crore in central government assistance. Nearly 90 per cent of infrastructure is complete, and 101 medical devices companies have already been allotted land. The Park focuses on key manufacturing segments such as radiology and imaging, cardio-respiratory devices, cancer care and radiotherapy, implants, and in-vitro diagnostics.

Located just 5 km from Noida International Airport (Jewar), the Park offers world-class infrastructure, multimodal connectivity, and attractive incentives — including capital interest subsidies, SGST reimbursement, EPF and employment incentives, skill development support, and 100% stamp duty exemption. YEIDA also announced plans for a 500-acre Japanese City near the airport to foster deeper industrial and cultural ties with Japan.

The Japanese delegation expressed strong interest in technology transfer, joint manufacturing, and component development collaborations with Indian companies. Allottee companies such as Krish Biomedicals, Polymed, Desco, Syon Medicals, and Medisys shared their positive experiences, underscoring YEIDA’s strategic location and investor-friendly environment.

The Japanese delegation also visited Krish Biomedicals manufacturing plant which is the first completed unit amongst the medical devices park allotees.

The meeting ended with both Indian & Japanese side agreeing to advance cooperation under the ‘Made in India and Japan’ framework, targeting domestic as well as global markets, particularly in Africa and the Middle East. It was mutually decided that MEJ will bring a larger delegation of Japanese MedTech firms to the Park in January / February 2026 for detailed discussions on potential partnerships and investments.
