Lucknow, July 2, 2026: The India Literacy Board held its joint executive committee and general body meeting at Saksharta Niketan on Kanpur Road under the leadership of its chairman, Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, IAS (Retd). During the session, the board officially established and released the operational guidelines for a major scholarship initiative aimed at rewarding the state-level first-place holders of the UP Board 10th and 12th examinations, as well as outstanding school-level toppers, India Literacy Board said in a press release.

Following the announcement of the 2026 examination results, the board identified the first batch of eligible meritorious students for the long-term academic rewards. In the 10th-grade state rankings, Kashish Verma and Anshika Verma jointly secured the first position across the state by scoring identical marks of 97.83 percent, while Shikha Verma clinched the top spot statewide in the 12th-grade examinations with a score of 97.60 percent. Additionally, within the board-operated Welthy Fisher Children’s Academy, 10th-grade student Umme Habiba secured the top position at the institutional level by scoring 88.80 percent.

Under the newly formulated rules, the board has structured the scholarship scheme to provide sustained financial support spanning a duration of two years. Toppers from the 10th grade will receive a monthly stipend of ₹3,000, while the first-place rankers from the 12th grade will be awarded a monthly stipend of ₹5,000. The administrative process to disburse these funds to the eligible candidates is currently underway, and the selected students will be formally invited and honored on September 18, 2026, during the Dr. Welthy Fisher Birth Anniversary celebrations.

Beyond direct financial scholarships, the executive committee ratified a substantial tuition fee concession framework to ease the academic burden on families with children enrolled at the Welthy Fisher Children’s Academy. For parents who have more than one child studying concurrently at the institution, a 20 percent discount on tuition fees will be applied to the second child. Furthermore, the board established dedicated relief measures for single mothers, guaranteeing a 30 percent tuition fee concession for their first child and an equal 30 percent concession for their second child, as confirmed in the official directive issued by Sandhya Tiwari, IAS (Retd), Director of the India Literacy Board.
