Japan’s Kewpie Corporation Explores ₹200-Cr Investment in Yamuna City, Eyes 10-Acre Food Processing Facility

Noida, February 14, 2026: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has hosted a senior official from Kewpie Corporation, Japan, to discuss the establishment of a major manufacturing plant in India. The meeting was chaired by YEIDA CEO R.K. Singh, alongside YEIDA Additional CEO S.K. Bhatia.

Founded in 1919, Kewpie Corporation Japan is a global leader in the food processing industry, renowned for its iconic egg-yolk-based mayonnaise and ‘umami’ flavor profile. With a dominant 60 per cent market share in Japan and a presence in over 79 countries, the company has diversified into health foods, fruit jams, sauces and fruit solutions. As of 2026, Kewpie is aggressively pursuing a ‘Make in Local’ strategy, leveraging high-growth markets in the Asia-Pacific to localize production and enhance supply chain efficiency.”

Kewpie Corporation Japan, is eyeing Yamuna City as its next strategic hub for international expansion.

Highlights of the Proposal

  • Investment Outlay: Approximately INR 200 crore
  • Land Requirement: An estimated 8 to 10 acres within YEIDA’s industrial parks
  • Global Footprint: Kewpie currently operates major plants in the USA, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and China; the proposed plant would mark a significant footprint in the Indian market.

During the discussions, Kewpie Corporation official expressed strong interest in the Authority’s infrastructure. He confirmed that a formal proposal will be presented to the Kewpie Board of Directors shortly. Following internal clearance, the company looks forward to final management-level discussions to solidify the partnership.

YEIDA CEO R.K. Singh welcomed the interest, saying: “The discussions were extremely positive. We have suggested that Kewpie Corporation Japan may submit a detailed final plan indicating their specific investment and land requirements. Once received, the Authority will verify the details and move swiftly to obtain formal consent from the Board and the Department of Industries.”

Following the meeting, the Japanese Official conducted an on-site visit to the Yamuna Industrial Development Authority’s industrial parks to evaluate the proposed locations. The visit concluded on a highly optimistic note, signalling a potential boost to local employment and the Make in India initiative.
