Knauf India Launches Mobile Training Academy to Upskill 25,000 Construction Workers

New Delhi, June 10, 2025: Knauf India, the world’s No. 1 company in drywall and ceiling solutions, has launched its latest initiative, Knauf Mobile Training Academy, to contribute to skill-building and industry excellence.
The innovative, on-wheels pan-India training programme is designed to deliver hands-on instruction in plasterboard and ceiling installation to more than 25,000-plus construction workers, reinforcing Knauf India’s mission to foster innovation and best practices in the construction sector while supporting the Skill India initiative.
The academy was inaugurated at Knauf India’s head office in the presence of the company’s global leadership. Attendees included Sumit Bidani, CEO, Knauf India; Budhi Ballav Chilkoti, Regional Commercial Director, MEASA Region Sales and Service Excellence; Ismael Hani, Regional People Director, MEASA Region; and Vijay Mishra, Commercial Director, Knauf India.
Over six months, a fleet of specially equipped training vans will travel to major construction sites across Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities, transforming them into mobile classrooms. Knauf India’s in-house experts will personally engage with workers, offering hands-on demonstrations and real-time learning experiences using Knauf’s products. They will also provide in-depth guidance on drywall and ceiling installation techniques to the installers.
Workers will gain exposure to the latest installation methods, learn how to optimise efficiency on job sites and develop an understanding of quality measures essential for delivering high-performance solutions.
Bidani said, “At Knauf India, we believe that the future of the construction industry lies in empowering the very hands that build it. The launch of the Knauf Mobile Training Academy reflects our commitment to upskilling construction workers across the country, especially in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.”
He added, “By providing hands-on training in drywall and ceiling installations, we aim to bridge the existing skill gap, align with national initiatives like Skill India and contribute meaningfully to the growth and modernisation of the construction sector. Our goal is to impact over 25,000 installers through this initiative, enabling them to deliver high-quality work that meets global standards.”
Chilkoti said, “This initiative is the first of its kind within the Knauf Group, and we are proud to see it originate in a country that is actively committed to nationwide skill development. In alignment with the Skill India initiative, Knauf Mobile Training Academy focuses on grassroots upskilling, ensuring that key stakeholders in the construction industry stay updated with global trends such as green building practices, digital and automation literacy and sustainable material knowledge.”
Hani added, “The true success of Knauf has always been built on the expertise of the professionals who bring our products to life. Through the Knauf Mobile Training Academy, we aim to show our appreciation by equipping them with hands-on demonstrations and real-time training in advanced techniques, quality control and innovative product applications.”
With the academy, Knauf India is not only investing in workforce development but also setting new benchmarks for on-site training in the construction industry. This initiative is a testament to the company’s dedication to quality, innovation and inclusive growth. By empowering installers with practical skills and industry knowledge, Knauf India is helping shape a more skilled, efficient and future-ready construction ecosystem.
