Loom Solar Expands Manufacturing Footprint with Second Land Allotment in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, April 23, 2026: Loom Solar has secured a second land allotment from the Uttar Pradesh government to scale its solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) manufacturing capacity. The agreement was formalized during a ceremony at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow, held in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Industrial Minister Nand Gopal ‘Nandi’ Gupta. This latest development underscores the company’s “double down” strategy on Uttar Pradesh as a primary hub for its multi-gigawatt (GW) renewable energy ambitions, the company said in a press release.

The newly allotted 33,400 square meter plot, spanning approximately 8.25 acres, is located at the Industrial Model Land Corporation (IMLC) in Meerut. This site operates independently of Loom Solar’s existing 7.5-acre facility in Kosi, where a 1.2 GW solar module manufacturing unit is currently under development. By establishing these two distinct production centers, Loom Solar is positioned to significantly strengthen the domestic solar supply chain and support the national goal of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

The Meerut facility will be specifically dedicated to high-throughput solar module production lines. While the Kosi plant continues its capacity build-out, the Meerut site provides the necessary infrastructure to integrate energy storage manufacturing into the company’s long-term roadmap. This dual-plant strategy is designed to address the surging demand for indigenous solar technology while simultaneously providing solutions for grid stability through an expanded BESS portfolio for utility-scale and distributed applications.

Emphasizing the strategic importance of the expansion, Amod Anand, Co-Founder and Director of Loom Solar, noted that the nation’s energy future depends on robust local production.

“India’s energy independence will be built in factories, aligned to its policies and resolve. This land allotment by the Government of Uttar Pradesh — a separate, dedicated facility at IMLC Meerut — strengthens our manufacturing backbone across both solar modules and BESS solutions,” Anand said. “Alongside the 1.2 GW Kosi plant, it gives Loom Solar the infrastructure to meet India’s multi-GW demand trajectory with fully indigenous capacity. We are grateful to the UP government for their decisive support, and we remain committed to translating that trust into jobs, output, and energy security for the nation,” he said.

This expansion aligns with key national initiatives, including Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, aimed at reducing India’s reliance on imported renewable components. Beyond the technological impact, the projects in Kosi and Meerut are expected to serve as major economic engines for the region, generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs across the engineering, manufacturing, and logistics sectors. The move further solidifies Uttar Pradesh’s reputation as a premier destination for large-scale industrial investment in the clean energy space.
