NBCC to Develop NIT Sikkim Campus

NBCC (India) Limited, announced its partnership in the development of the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology, Sikkim.
The campus site is situated at Khamgdong village located 45 kms away from Gangtok. The 100-acre campus will see the development in 50 acres as permanent campus of NIT Sikkim and serve as a beacon of innovation and academic brilliance. With an estimated investment of approximately Rs. 560 Cr, NBCC will spearhead the execution of construction and development of state-of-the-art facilities tailored to meet the institute’s mission and objectives.

KP Mahadevaswamy, Chairman & Managing Director, NBCC, said, “The development of NIT Sikkim’s permanent campus is a testament to NBCC’s unwavering commitment to nation-building through infrastructural excellence. We are dedicated to ensuring that the institute’s vision of imparting top-notch technical education is realized to its fullest potential.”
Key highlights of the project include:
The total BUA of the project will be over 92,000 sq.m comprising of major blocks; i.e. Academic building, Hostel/Faculty & Staff Quarters, Sports facility and common facilities.
Academic Building: Dedicated buildings for various departments including Administrative Cum Academic Building, Library Building & ICT, Lecture Hall Complex, and specialized departments for Chemistry, Physics, Maths, EEE, Mechanical, Civil Engg, CSE, and ECE Hostel/Faculty & Staff Quarters: Comprehensive facilities comprising of Boys and Girls Hostels, Mess, Faculty and Staff Quarters, and a Director’s Bungalow ensuring a conducive living and learning environment.
Sports Facility and Common Facilities: State-of-the-art sports facilities, Student Activity Centre, Health Centre, Guest House, Outdoor playground, Canteen, Convention cum Multi-Purpose Hall, and Open Air Theatre to nurture holistic development and well-being.
Sustainable Development: Adhering to Green Building norms (GRIHA-III), the campus will incorporate eco-friendly practices and universal accessibility principles ensuring a sustainable and inclusive environment.
Furthermore, external development works including roads, pathways, boundary walls, street lighting, drainage systems, and green spaces will enhance the overall ambiance of the campus, creating a harmonious blend of nature and modernity.
