Rishab Rikhiram Sharma’s Sitar at Omaxe New Chandigarh, Downtown, Moves Audience

Chandigarh, May 5, 2025: Omaxe New Chandigarh, Downtown, resonated with emotions, energy and the ethereal sounds of the sitar as Rishab Rikhiram Sharma brought his acclaimed experience, Sitar for Mental Health, to life. More than 10,000 music lovers attended the event.
More than just a concert, the event turned into a soulful journey for the audience—a space where music met mindfulness. Attendees were invited to meditate, laugh, cry and breathe as Sharma’s performance transcended tradition, offering deep emotional release and inner peace.
Drawing from the sacred lineage of Ravi Shankar, Sharma’s mastery of the sitar, combined with a gentle, guiding presence, created a rare space for collective healing. The audience, from music lovers to mental health advocate, walked away moved, inspired and deeply connected with themselves and each other.
Born into the famous Rikhi Ram family, Sharma started training under the tutelage of his mentor, Ravi Shankar, and his father Sanjay Sharma. He is a sitarist who creates spiritual, therapeutic experiences for contemporary audiences by fusing mindfulness with classical Indian music.

Jatin Goel, Executive Director, Omaxe Limited, said, “The sitar is a traditional Indian string instrument used in Hindustani classical music. Its gentle, ragabased tunes slow our breathing and heartbeat, helping us feel calm.” Omaxe loves “supporting artists, and over 10,000 people enjoyed this event. In the past, performers like Piyush Mishra, Gurdas Maan, Satinder Sartaj and Navraj Hans have also taken our stage. Our goal is to keep young people connected to their culture and strengthen community ties”.
Goel added, “Each event held here makes a substantial contribution to the concert economy’s advancement. These events increase local tourism in addition to providing job possibilities for a variety of specialists, including artists, technologists, event managers and vendors.”
These events “frequently draw people from other cities who travel especially to attend, boosting the local economy. Supporting the concert economy is a significant step towards sustainable development and cultural enrichment as our honourable prime minister has underlined,” he further added.
By supporting occasions like this, Omaxe continues to be committed to honour India’s cultural legacy, and “we pledge to provide many more enlightening opportunities in the future.”
The success of the event underlined the growing relevance of music as a tool for mental wellness, and Shamra’s initiative is being celebrated as a pioneering step in fusing classical art with emotional well-being.
