UP RERA Launches Agent Training Program in Lucknow to Professionalize Sector and Protect Homebuyers

Lucknow, May 7, 2026: In a strategic move to bolster transparency and professional standards within the real estate sector, the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has inaugurated its 38th Real Estate Agent Training Program. The four-day initiative commenced Wednesday at the Indian Literacy Board (ILB) on Kanpur Road, drawing 53 candidates who seek to become certified and registered professionals. The program is designed to provide agents with a comprehensive understanding of legal frameworks, ethical responsibilities, and the professional competencies required to navigate the state’s property market, UPRERA said in a press release.

The inaugural session was attended by UPRERA Secretary Mahendra Verma and ILB Director Sandhya Tiwari, alongside other senior officials. Addressing the participants, Secretary Verma emphasized that the credibility of the real estate industry is built upon a triad of stakeholders: developers, agents, and the regulatory authority. He noted that the training serves as a vital interactive platform for agents to resolve technical doubts and master the nuances of the RERA Act, the Apartment Ownership Act, and the Transfer of Property Act, ensuring they are well-equipped to protect consumer interests.
In his keynote address, Verma stated: “The credibility of the real estate sector rests on three key pillars—developers (promoters), real estate agents, and RERA. Effective coordination among these stakeholders is essential to protect consumer interests and enhance the sector’s reputation.” He further explained that the training is designed to strengthen agents’ legal awareness and professional capabilities, adding that “refresher training programs would be conducted periodically to keep agents updated with changing regulations.”
The curriculum for the opening day included specialized sessions led by technical experts. Principal Advisor Abrar Ahmed conducted a deep dive into UPRERA rules and regulations, while Adjudicating Officer Harish Tripathi detailed the provisions of the Contract Act. Additionally, consultants provided guidance on project registration and promoter responsibilities, complemented by insights into stamp registration laws from the AIG Registrar. This multi-disciplinary approach ensures that prospective agents understand both the commercial and legal dimensions of their roles.
To maintain the integrity of the certification, a rigorous examination will be held on the final day, with strict prohibitions on electronic devices to ensure a transparent process. Candidates who pass the exam and fulfill the fee requirements will be granted official registration. This program marks a significant milestone in UPRERA’s mission; to date, 37 sessions have been conducted across Lucknow and Greater Noida, resulting in the successful qualification of over 1,320 participants from a pool of more than 2,750 candidates. Making this certification a mandatory prerequisite for registration remains a cornerstone of the state’s policy to safeguard homebuyers and professionalize the real estate ecosystem.
