Metropolis by Reliance MET City Secures India’s First LEED Platinum Pre-Certification Under LEED for Cities: Plan and Design
New Delhi, March 2, 2026: Metropolis by Reliance MET City, Haryana, has become the first project in India to receive the LEED Platinum Pre-Certification under the “LEED for Cities: Plan and Design” rating system. This prestigious recognition, confirmed by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), places the development within an elite group of globally planned projects recognized for future-ready, resilient infrastructure, a press release from the company said.
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED is the world’s most recognized framework for green building and community certification. Unlike standard building certifications, the “Plan and Design” program evaluates large-scale developments at their inception. This ensures that critical sustainability principles—spanning energy, water, mobility, ecology, and livability—are hardcoded into the project’s blueprint before a single brick is laid.
The certification process assesses projects across rigorous categories, including natural systems, transportation, greenhouse gas emissions, and resource efficiency. By securing the highest possible tier of pre-certification, Metropolis demonstrates a commitment to measurable environmental outcomes and climate resilience for its future residents and commercial partners.

Mr. Shrivallabh Goyal, CEO & Whole Time Director, Reliance MET City, emphasized the strategic importance of this achievement, stating: “Achieving LEED Platinum pre-certification for Metropolis by MET City is a testament to our vision and is an integral part of our journey towards building a world-class, future-ready urban ecosystem in India. Embedding sustainability, resilience, and quality of life at the very foundation of planning and design, has always been our priority. We envision that Metropolis will not only meet global benchmarks, but by itself set new standards for responsible urban development, economic opportunity, and livability for generations to come.”
Strategically located in Village Daryapur on MDR 123, Metropolis sits at a logistical sweet spot—0 km from Delhi and five minutes from the KMP Expressway. The project is poised to benefit from its proximity to major landmarks, including AIIMS Badsa, the upcoming Haryana Orbital Corridor, and the proposed BCCI international cricket stadium. Residents will also be integrated into the broader Reliance MET City ecosystem, which already boasts established social, healthcare, and educational infrastructure.
This pre-certification serves as a structured roadmap for the development’s execution, ensuring that as the project progresses, it maintains its alignment with global best practices. As India continues its rapid urbanization, Metropolis by Reliance MET City stands as a pilot for how large-scale developments can prioritize the planet alongside economic growth.
