New Delhi, April 18, 2026: Despite gold prices surging over 215% in the last five years to nearly ₹1.5 lakh per 10 grams, organized shopping malls in India are witnessing a significant increase in jewellery sales and footfall. According to real estate industry leaders, leading retail destinations in the Delhi-NCR region, such as Ambience Mall, Vegas Mall, Gaur City Mall, and Omaxe Chowk, have successfully consolidated major national brands like Tanishq, Kalyan Jewellers, and Malabar Gold & Diamonds. This clustering strategy is driving a structural shift in consumer behavior, as buyers migrate from traditional high streets to secure, transparent, and experience-led mall environments for high-value investments.

Industry leaders attribute this resilience to a growing preference for brand assurance over unorganized local players. “The sharp rise in gold prices has not deterred demand; instead, it has shifted purchasing towards organised formats where trust and transparency are stronger,” said Arjun Gehlot, Director, Ambience Group

“Consumers are more discerning when making high-value purchases, and malls offer a controlled and credible retail environment.” This sentiment is echoed by Manju Gaur, Director, Gaurs Group, who noted that by integrating top-tier brands, malls offer a “frictionless, luxury experience defined by variety and trust,” adding, “We aim to bring these elements together by offering a wide brand mix under one roof in a comfortable, secure and trustworthy retail environment,” he added.

The transition is particularly evident in legacy markets undergoing modernization. Jatin Goel, Executive Director, Omaxe Group, emphasized that with gold trading near ₹1.55 lakh per 10 grams, purchasing is now a high-stakes financial investment. “At these historic price points, buyers cannot afford to compromise on transparency, hallmarking, or physical security. Omaxe Chowk is designed to bridge the gap between the cultural heritage of traditional markets and the rigorous trust of organized retail,” Goel stated. As the market enters the peak wedding and festive season, malls are adapting to price volatility by promoting lightweight and studded designs. Ravinder Choudhary, Vice-President, Vegas Mall, observed that gold buying remains price inelastic due to its cultural and investment value, but noted a shift toward value-conscious buying. “Malls are increasingly emerging as preferred jewellery destinations as consumers seek trust, transparency, and brand assurance under one roof,” Choudhary said. “The presence of multiple national and regional players allows for comparison led buying, which aligns with today’s more informed and research driven consumer.”
